If you have eaten a tonne of chocolate over Easter – please don’t beat yourself up and do read on…
Let’s talk about the post Easter panic… have you eaten your body weight in chocolate and starting to beat yourself up about it – please DON’T!
If you have eaten more chocolate than usual and are now thinking “I have completely undone everything good and have ruined my progress”. You really have not.
To gain just 1lb of body fat, you would need to eat roughly 3,500 extra calories on top of what your body needs. That’s A LOT, right!?
Let’s put that into real terms using a Cadburys Easter egg: (My fav – Yum!)
A standard Cadbury medium Easter egg is roughly 800 to 1,000 calories
That means you would need to eat around 3 to 4 full Easter eggs ON TOP of your normal food intake to gain 1lb of fat. Again, that is a lot of choc and realistically not how much you’d eat in a day.
Also that’s not spread across a few days, it would need to happen in a relatively short space of time.
So what does this actually mean?
If you:
Had a few extra chocolates
Snacked more than usual
Did not stick perfectly to your routine
You have not suddenly gained body fat.
What you might notice instead is:
Feeling a bit bloated
A slight increase on the scale which is usually water, food volume or salt
This is temporary and completely normal.
The bigger picture
Progress is not made or broken in a single weekend.
It is built from:
What you do most of the time
Your habits across weeks and months
Not a few Easter eggs.
What to do now
Just get back to your normal routine
Please don’t restrict or punish yourself
Don’t overthink – just move forwards with a positive mindset
